Slide out Behavior Explained

Have you ever wondered why you see whales and dolphins slide up onto the platforms at SeaWorld? This actually is a trained behavior that is used not only in shows, but also for husbandry purposes. Here Kelly Flaherty Clark explains it as one of Blue Horizons’ pilot whales demonstrates.

Cetaceans in the wild, like Killer Whales, also naturally do this as a means of catching prey such as sea lions on a beach.
