Klondike, an 18-year old polar bear, passed away at SeaWorld on September 13th. He and his twin sister Snow were born in 1995 at the Denver Zoo. Both cubs were rejected by their mother, and so they were hand-raised by zoo staff. Due to space limitations, the Denver Zoo was unable to keep the cubs, and so they were transferred to SeaWorld Orlando when they were a year old. SeaWorld has cared for Klondike and Snow (who passed away in 2012) for almost their entire lives in a state of the art facility. Guests could see them as part of the Behind the Scenes tour, as well as in the Wild Arctic exhibit.
Our thoughts and condolences are with SeaWorld as they mourn the loss of Klondike.
