Recently, SeaWorld curator Kelly Flaherty Clark and SeaWorld trainer Valerie Greene were awarded and recognized for their presentation at the 2013 IMATA (International Marine Animal Trainers’ Association) Annual Conference in Las Vegas. Their presentation focused on a group of pilot whales recently rescued and currently in SeaWorld’s care. Kelly and Valerie were honored for their presentation with First Place in Education and Conservation, an award well deserved.

On a more personal note, I would like to say a few words about Valerie Greene. I had the pleasure of meeting Valerie last year during my first trip to SeaWorld. Like all of her SeaWorld colleagues, Valerie has an evident and true passion for her work, and an unparalleled devotion and caring for every animal she works and interacts with. Not only that, but she is one of the nicest people I know, and one of SeaWorld’s greatest assets. I am honored to support her as a SeaWorld trainer, and equally honored to call her a friend. Valerie has also appeared in several episodes of SeaWorld’s popular Saturday morning television show SeaRescue. Congratulations, Kelly Flaherty Clark and Valerie Greene for representing SeaWorld so outstandingly at the IMATA Annual Conference!
