This young harbor seal pup was rescued from the north jetty of the Lake Worth Inlet in Florida yesterday. Officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had been monitoring the animal for the past several days. Typically harbor seals are not commonly found in the area where this animal was located, and so officials were observing the animal to determine if it needed to be rescued. When rescued, this seal was noticeably underweight and lethargic.
The harbor seal pup was taken to SeaWorld Orlando for further observation and care.
